OAI - Occupational Accident Insurance

Learn more about OAI and how to keep you safe when you are actively delivering with Jitsu.

What is OAI?

Occupational Accident Insurance (OAI) coverage protects and insures independent contractors against injuries that may happen while you are actively delivering with Jitsu. OAI provides benefits for medical expenses, disability, loss of life, survivor payments, dismemberment and paralysis for covered injuries directly caused by an accident while on an active delivery.

OAI Insurance Coverage

To protect Jitsu independent contractors, below are our required coverage types and minimum levels of coverage:

Coverage Type Coverage Amount
Accident Medical Expense Up to maximum of $1,000,000
Accidental Death Up to a maximum of $350,000
Survivors Benefit Up to a maximum of $50,000 + $2,000 / month for 150 months
Accidental Dismemberment Up to a maximum of $350,000

Please Note: Accidental Death, Survivors Benefit, Accidental Dismemberment and Paralysis benefits are reduced if you are age 65 or over.

OAI Enrollment and Deductions

As a Jitsu driver, you will not need to do anything to enroll. You will be automatically covered when you are performing services on the Jitsu app. OAI costs will be covered as part of a deduction from the route pay. OAI costs will be displayed for each route in the Jitsu app and will be deducted from your payment.

In the event that I get injured, how do I file a claim?

If you become injured while performing services when on the Jitsu app, an Occupational Accident Insurance claim will need to be reported immediately. To file a claim, please call the Great American claims call center at 1-800-297-1971, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You will be asked to provide your policy number during the call. To find the Jitsu policy number, go to the Jitsu Driver App > Profile > Occupational Accident Insurance for details.

If your injuries require immediate medical attention, please go directly to the nearest hospital/urgent care center for medical treatment or call 911.
