How Jitsu Is Preparing for Peak Season Last-Mile Delivery

Peak season is the ultimate test of performance in last-mile delivery. Order volumes spike, timelines shrink, and reliability becomes the true measure of a carrier’s strength. At Jitsu, we’ve spent the past several months preparing to meet that moment. All of this concentrated planning, forecasting, and aligning across teams and clients ensures that when Peak hits, we’re already in stride.

Our focus is simple: deliver consistency and confidence during the busiest shipping season of the year. Every process we refine and every conversation we have with clients is designed to make sure packages move smoothly from cart to doorstep, even under pressure.

Collaborating with Retailers to Anticipate Peak Demand

The foundation of a successful Peak season starts well before the first holiday order ships. That’s why our Client Success team has been working closely with our retail partners and Operations teams for months to forecast demand, plan capacity, identify potential challenges, and build strategies tailored to their unique needs.

These strategic conversations help us anticipate volume spikes across markets and build schedules that align with each client’s patterns. This means we’re not just responding to demand, we’re planning for it together.

By aligning forecasting models, reviewing historical data, and analyzing regional demand trends, we can make smarter decisions about driver deployment, routing, and facility utilization long before Peak hits.

Because at Jitsu, collaboration is the foundation of reliability. When our clients win, so do we.

Scaling Capacity with Technology and Infrastructure

Delivering a flawless Peak season is not only about tackling increased volume, it’s about scaling the right way. We’ve expanded our physical footprint with over 100,000 square feet of new warehouse capacity, strategically located in our high-volume markets like San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Dallas to strengthen network resilience.

On the technology side, we’ve built dedicated Multi-Cycle Operations functionality within our proprietary Warehouse Management System, enabling us to handle up to three times our typical volume when needed. This gives us the flexibility to manage surges without compromising speed, accuracy, or visibility.

We’ve also reinforced partnerships with trusted regional carriers and optimized route density to improve both delivery efficiency and sustainability. The result is a network that scales responsibly, ensuring we’re ready for whatever Peak brings.

Expanding and Supporting Our Driver Network

Behind every successful delivery is a driver who makes it happen. Every day, but especially during Peak, our drivers are the backbone of what we do. To prepare, we’ve been investing heavily in ensuring that every market has the coverage, support, and motivation needed to deliver at scale.

We’ve refined our driver forecasts and started recruiting and onboarding early to build a healthy driver pool well ahead of Peak. In fact, we're significantly increasing our driver capacity to give our clients the flexibility to scale their volumes several times over during Peak. With a flexible mix of independent contractors, delivery service partners, and third party drivers, our adaptable model gives us the ability to scale efficiently while maintaining high performance standards across regions.

And to keep drivers motivated through the busiest shipping days, we’ve implemented incentive programs across markets, along with Peak-day pay adjustments. These programs help ensure consistent coverage, boost on-time delivery, and reward the people who make it all possible.

By combining proactive staffing, data-driven driver management, and thoughtful incentives, Jitsu is set to enter Peak with one of the strongest and most engaged driver networks in the industry.

Building Operational Excellence Ahead of Peak

Our Operations team is the heartbeat of Jitsu. They make sure every package moves smoothly through our network efficiently, safely, and on time.

Leading up to Peak, our Ops leaders have worked hard to empower their teams with the training, support, and tools they need to ensure consistency, reliability, and efficiency during our busiest time of year. At Jitsu, we prepare for the unexpected. All departments collaborate on whistle-stop plans across the company to ensure effective communication and problem solving when the unexpected inevitably occurs.

Beyond preparing our people for Peak, we’ve also been optimizing the foundational tech that supports them. We’ve built tools on top of our WMS and TMS that will enable superior visibility. Our proprietary yard management software will help us manage receiving loads on the busiest shipping days. And our dedicated linehaul team, powered by our internal tracking software, will be working 24/7 to maintain our superior quality. We’ve enhanced our performance tracking, strengthened our escalation protocols, and introduced new operational processes that enable faster decision-making and smoother coordination across markets in real time.

These proactive measures and technology enhancements allow us to identify and address issues before they impact performance so that our clients experience nothing but consistency.

Behind the scenes, our unwavering commitment to operational excellence ensures that every delivery reflects the precision and care our brand is built on.

Ready for the Road Ahead

Peak season is when preparation turns into performance, and Jitsu is ready. With teams aligned, technology strengthened, and partnerships energized, we’re approaching this season with confidence and clarity.

Every department has played a role in making sure our network runs seamlessly when it matters most. Because at Jitsu, we don’t just plan for Peak, we plan for our clients’ success every single day of the year.
