Healthcare Subsidy - California

At the end of each calendar quarter, Jitsu will provide a subsidy to help pay for your healthcare costs if you have a qualifying plan and have driven in California for an average of 15+ engaged hours per week in the previous quarter. 

Calendar quarters are as follows:

• Q1: January 1 - March 31
• Q2: April 1 - June 30
• Q3: July 1 - September 30
• Q4: October 1 - December 31
  
  

Eligibility Requirements:

1. You have driven an average of 15+ engaged hours each week throughout the quarter (ending at 11:59:59pm Pacific Time)
2. You are enrolled in a qualifying health plan and are the the primary policy holder
3. You submit a copy of the required health care coverage documents for the quarter by the deadline. Please note that ALL required documents must be submitted by the 15th of the month by 11:59pm Pacific Time to be considered valid.

You will receive an email from us to the email on file if you qualify to apply for the prior quarter’s subsidy.

Healthcare Plan Criteria

A qualifying health plan refers to any health insurance plan that is considered minimum essential coverage under the Affordable Care Act.   

Which plans may qualify?

Here’s an inclusive but not exhaustive list:

• Anthem Blue Cross
• Blue Shield of California
• HealthNet
• Kaiser Permanente
• L.A. Care Health Plan (not Medi-Cal plans)
  
  

Which plans do not qualify?

Here’s an inclusive but not exhaustive list:

• Plans where you are not the primary subscriber (for example, you have coverage through your spouse)
• Employer-sponsored
• Government-sponsored, such as Medicaid, Medicare, Medi-Cal, CenCal Health, and other forms of Medicare and Medicaid
• Tricare or Veteran Affairs
• Promise Health Plan
• Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP)

 

Proof of active coverage:

• Must include proof of active enrollment for the current quarter with either of the following:
  • Proof of enrollment form 1095-A from Covered California.

  • Evidence of Coverage (EOC) letter from insurance company
  • Premium payment receipts
  • Generic letters without specific coverage dates will not be accepted. The form must clearly list the coverage dates for the quarter being applied for. You will not be approved without this documentation.
• Must include your member identification card (front & back)
  • Must show your name as the policy holder 
  • Must show the name of the health plan

Payments

The subsidy amount depends on the engaged hours driven:

• If you have driven between 15 - 25 hours/week over the quarter, you’ll receive $792.12
• If you have driven 25 or more hours/week over the quarter, you’ll receive $1584.24

 

After you have submitted a copy of your health care coverage, you can check the app for your status. Once approved, the subsidy will be deposited into your account within 15 days of coverage submission.
